How Many Denim Jackets Do You Own? How Many Are Too Many?

This is an interesting question, I don’t think there is a right or wrong answer. I would hate to even count the number I own. Some store bought but most of them redesigned by me! I call my creations, Mixed Media Denim Jackets. Each jacket has it’s place in my wardrobe. White and off-white are spring summer and push into fall. Then there is distressed denim, black denim, torn denim, dark blue denim, and lace covered denim. I might even claim multiples of some styles. Now when I make a jacket that might be mine; my husband makes me give one back. First time I did this was the night before a show. I made a deal with my husband that if the one I gave back didn’t sell the next day, it was mine forever! Well, guess what? It was the first thing I sold the next day, I even hid it in the back. But that just meant it was perfect for someone else! My daughter owns 7 of my denim jackets and my Mom, who never wore denim, has 3 so far! Each jacket I make is unique and one-of-a-kind. They catch people’s eye and start conversations. Wearable art! If I were to count how many customers have bought multiple denim jackets, I am not sure of the number. One woman, Maureen, who bought 3 jackets because she couldn’t decide on one. Two years later, Maureen bought 5 jackets, saying each one was her favorite! I know Maureen has more than even I do. Another client, Robin, was running a ‘Denim & Diamond’ fundraiser for Boy’s & Girls’ Clubs of Providence; she wanted to know if I would donate 2 jackets and wine sleeves for their silent auction. I was honored to do so, what a great cause. After the event, Robin sent me a note saying, ‘Just so you know, I bid on the long jacket and won! I now own 4 of your pieces!’ #sustainablefashion #handmade #denimjacket #wearableart #oneofakind #mixedmedia #denim #jeanjacket #repurpose #upcycledfashion #funfashion #dianabydesign
