In a world where our waste is growing exponentially the need to be more and more environmentally conscience is here. My sustainable fashion began as an idea to take old unwanted clothing and make it into a new stylish piece of fashion! My cutting and creating is evolving into a fun upcycled wearable art business.
I am constantly getting new ideas, leading to my ever growing fun fashion line! Each piece is designed, sewn, finished and then modeled by me. Everything I do is handmade and each design is unique.
Upcycling has become a passion, yeilding beautiful felted wool sweater coats, tunics, fingerless mittens, along with my newest denim trend. Mixed media denim jackets, wine sleeves and stylish denim skirts!
As the month of January flies by, I am putting my ‘studio’ back together and thinking of where I want my fashion to go this year. I like the denim evolution and will be trying some new ideas out this spring. The jackets are so versatile and you can never own too many! Just ask my daughter, she owns 7 so far!
For those of you who don’t know me, my ‘studio’ is my dining room! It is an awesome space, 10 ft ceilings and large casement windows, which equals loads of light. Never mind that my dining room table is a marble based glass top, so what a great work table. I just need to cover with cutting pads! Next bring in the bins full of already felted sweaters and cleaned clothing, sorted by colors and fabrics. I stack the bins about 6 ft tall around the outside walls! Set my two sewing machines on one corner of the table and I am ready to design.
